Welcome to the Ranch

Spring has arrived in the Rockies and with summer just around the corner, we at Tarryall River Ranch are busy preparing for your visit! We’re dusting off our boots, stocking the pantry, and putting every little thing in its place.

Whether exploring the awe-inspiring terrain of the central Rockies on horseback, fishing the stocked waters of the Tarryall River, or hiking amidst the Lost Creek Wilderness, at Tarryall River Ranch you will be surrounded by natural beauty, and pampered with western comfort and style!

We warmly invite you to experience the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains with a stay at Tarryall River Ranch this summer. Give us a call! We’re currently taking reservations for horseback rides, overnight stays and private events, for the 2019 summer season.

We are wrangling up a full featured web site which will debut this summer.  No need to wait though.  Just click on the “Contact Us” button below and we’ll get you saddled up pronto!

Riding

Happy Trails!

The first time you come to the ranch you are a guest, the next time you cross the cattle guard you are family!

Trail rides open to the public starting May 15, 2019.

Come and join us to ride some fantastic horses and see some stunning views of the Colorado Rockies!

The trail rides can be enjoyed by riders 6 and up.  For your safety and piece of mind, helmets are required for riders under the age of 12 and are optional for all other participants.  For the health and safety of our horses we have a 275lb weight limit for our participants.

The following are just a few of the trail ride offerings at the Ranch:

Tarryall Buckaroo Ride ~ an experience developed to help young, or tentative, riders become comfortable around a horse. Buckaroos will be taught the basics of horse etiquette and enjoy a gentle ride, led by a wrangler, around the ranch and up the trail.  This ride is open to children ages 2-10. Cost is $40.00 per hour, and can be shared by multiple Buckaroos!

Stage Coach Loop ~  a one hour ride that transports the rider to yesteryear.  As we ride up the Old Stage Coach road, one can imagine how the Colorado Territory looked in the days of Jim Bridger and Kit Carson.  This is a very easy ride, good for beginners and children, and won’t leave you sore for your next adventure.  $65.00 per rider.

Canyon River Ride ~ a half-day ride that explores the shoulder of Tarryall Mountain and curves around into the river valley where Tarryall Creek joins the South Platte River. Upon arriving at this scenic area we secure the horses and hike to the river’s edge where we enjoy a light sack lunch. After resting or exploring for a time, we mount up and meander back to the ranch.  The Canyon River Ride has you a little over three hours in the saddle, but it is well worth it. $175.00,  sack lunch included

Lodging

With several cabins and suites to choose from, we can accommodate a variety of groups.  From Apache cabin, which can sleep up to ten people, to Stampede cabin with its original 1930’s log & chink construction and wraparound porch, you’re sure to find something for everyone.

Each cabin promises comfortable beds, private baths, and cozy living areas, complete with working fireplaces. Several of our cabins have private kitchens as well.  Whichever you choose, you are sure to find that our lodging provides the perfect blend of creature comforts and Old West charm!

A place of retreat and community, Tarryall River Ranch offers many common spaces to gather with family and friends, and make new acquaintances. The historic Frontier Lodge, built in the early 1900s, and newly renovated to include a community kitchen, is
one such space. Here, guests can linger by the stately river rock fireplace, play one of our many board games, retreat to the quaint reading loft, or entertain others with a tune
played on our antique piano! Frontier Lodge also boasts a large covered porch, which is
a great place to gather to enjoy the refreshing summer evenings.

Food brings people together, which is why it’s no surprise guests seem to gather at
Waypoint Lodge. With both indoor and outdoor seating, guests can enjoy freshly baked
cookies, pour themselves a cup of bottomless coffee, and share a home-style meal, served family style, in our welcoming dining room. In the evening, gather around the campfire on our scenic patio to roast marshmallows under the vast, tranquil sky.
